Historic Antecedent Swirling Influence: Trout Face Replica
So I'd play songs like this early Fish Tune (and almost exactly like this) on my 12-string in the living room of my friends .... because Kenny Edwards
who I met through church long about 1962 had taught me some things. (He didn't look like the photo above then, though .... he looked more like this, but even a few years younger:

he'd reach over and mess with my tuning peg. Feh! And a bit later, as I was playing, and everyone was paying close attention, some guy (well, it was the fellow who eventually helped write the script, and that's "helped write the script" for "Captain Milkshake") after the Bob Dylan party and he was feeling his oats (Because I told him the reason why "Blind Boy Grunt" as a Bob Dylan nickname was funny, and explained it all to him), he would now say such crap as, "Yeah, we could goose her once in awhile to keep her in her place". The nerve?!
I didn't like him much, either, anymore not because of what he said to me so much (or maybe a bit), but because he was an ABSURDIST. His favorite phrase was "Quel absurditie!" ("Quel absurditie!" like a clown in a movie would turn and say to the camera to better engage the audience, when the Nazis are coming onto the screen.
He wrote bad poetry, I said. That's enough of a reason not to like him any more.
And he was becoming a sleaze and he would be perfect in show business (music business or Hollywood, which is what he tried to do, but he ended up working in investments, just like his rich Wall Street dad had. The apple does not fall far from the tree, I would warn my friends.) He thought the Bob Dylan entourage in 1964 were a groove and I thought them ill-mannered puffed up swine. (I told Lowell George about that party later on, and he (this is true) worked a line about that party into one of his songs, one which I recognize because I know what I told him.
I told Linda and Kenny, too .... everyone I knew heard about it. Frank heard it. Beefheart's major domo heard about it later as he wasn't at that party. Watch out for me, Bob! Victor's gone now and can't protect you like he once did.)
